Remembering September 11th

Teaching the Legacy of September 11

Helping a New Generation Learn, Remember, and Understand Through Age-Appropriate Stories and Resources

For today’s children, September 11, 2001 is history—but the values that emerged from that day continue to shape communities across the country. Remembering September 11th was created to help families and educators introduce these conversations in a thoughtful, age-appropriate way for children ages 5 and older. We partnered with the education nonprofit NaliniKIDS, and created a brand new resource as part of their early childhood program, OOPA’s World of Words, with support from the Turtle Plastics Foundation. Through five short videos and companion Teacher and Family Guides, children are encouraged to explore themes they can relate to and understand: helping others, responding in times of need, honoring memories, and supporting their communities. Whether used in classrooms, at home, or in community settings, these resources are designed to create meaningful conversations without overwhelming young learners.

What’s Included

Whether you’re introducing 9/11 in the classroom or continuing the conversation at home, these resources are designed to help teachers and families navigate meaningful, age-appropriate discussions with confidence and care. This series makes it easier for adults to introduce complex topics in ways children can understand, encouraging thoughtful learning, reflection, and connection.
