Firefighter Tribute

More About the Tribute

This park, dedicated in August 1990, is named for the first Sterling Heights firefighter killed in the line of duty.
James C. Nelson Park is 36.6 acres and includes a playground, nature trails, picnic areas, and sports fields and courts.
In late 2022, a steel and glass sculpture known as a “Life Tree” was installed in the park through the city’s Public Art Program.
