Kalee is currently employed as a 12th grade English Language Arts teacher with the Kansas City, Kansas Public School District. She teaches that education can be the ultimate equalizer and wants to demonstrate her belief in self-improvement and investing in oneself to her students and her family. Kalee will be enrolling to complete her master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction in 2022.
As a third-year teacher, Kalee serves as a sponsor and leader in various extracurricular activities. Serves as interim English department head and serves on six different district-level committees dedicated to adopting, writing, and improving the English curriculum.
Kalee wanted to show her family there is light at the end of the tunnel. She graduated in May 2018 with her bachelor’s degree then immediately moved home to be a caretaker for her mother, who passed one month later from stage 4 esophageal cancer. Kalee states, “no matter the loss, there is always a reason to push forward and continue to chase after life and happiness.”
