COVID-19 BENEFITS

PSOB benefits are available in any State of the U.S., the District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands of the U.S., Guam, American Samoa, the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and any territory or possession of the U.S.

INSURANCE BENEFITS

To be eligible for survivor’s insurance benefits, an applicant’s deceased spouse must have been fully insured or currently insured at the time of death. Once eligible, a person can receive a monthly spouse insurance benefit until the month before he/she dies. If spouse is 60 years of age or older and decides to remarry, monthly spouse benefits continues but the amount will be reduced from 100% of the basic benefit to 60%.

If under the age of 60 and remarry, spousal benefit will cease.

Additionally, any beneficiary who remarries cannot receive more than one surviving spouse insurance benefit.

If spouse is earning over $1,500 a quarter. There is an earnings test.
