Three Fire Departments Selected as Recipients of the Senator Paul S. Sarbanes Fire Service Safety Leadership Award
Representing career, volunteer and combination fire departments, these three recipients developed important health and safety programs for their personnel that are based on the 16 Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives established at the 2004 Tampa Summit. The initiatives form the criteria for the award. The award presentations will take place at the 32nd Annual National Fire and Emergency Services Dinner on April 30, 2020, in Washington, DC.

The Arthur J. Glatfelter Distinguished Service Award from the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation was presented to Mary Ann Gibbons during Firehouse Expo in Nashville on October 10, 2019.
National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and MAGLITE® Honor Durham Fire Department and Chief Robert Zoldos with the Firefighter Hero Award
Chief Zoldos and the Durham Fire Department received the award for for their extraordinary efforts in battling carcinogen related cancer among firefighters.

This conference is designed to assist you in facing the challenges and difficult experiences that come after the loss of a loved one. It is open to spouses, life partners, parents, adult children and siblings of fallen firefighters honored at the National Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
2020 – 2021 Scholarship Applications Now Being Accepted Online
Applications are being accepted through March 1 for the 2020-2021 National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Scholarship Program. For the first time since it’s inception, scholars will apply online for the NFFF Scholarships.

Each year the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation holds a special Fire Hero Family Tree Lighting in memory of our fallen firefighters. These trees carry ornaments sent in by families in honor of their loved ones. This special event was held during the Inaugural Winter Family Retreat.

119 Fallen Firefighters Honored at the 38th National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service
The 38th National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service honored 92 firefighters who died in the line of duty in 2018 and 27 firefighters who died in the line of duty in previous years.

Building Bridges so that Everyone Goes Home®
It turns out that wildland and structural firefighters are not all that different once you look past the yellow and blue shirts. Culture is the most critical piece to the adoption of safer practices across the fire service. This spring, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation will host five Everyone Goes Home® in the Wildland Introduction Sessions. The two-day curriculum introduces Everyone Goes Home® concepts and the 16 Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives and is broadly aimed at those who have a responsibility to respond to fires in the wildland, even though it may not be their primary function.

Truman Fire Forum Report Released
The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, in conjunction with the National Advisory Committee of the Congressional Fire Services Institute (CFSI), released the Truman Fire Forum Report during the Truman Fire Forum Working Group Steering Committee Meeting. The Truman Fire Forum Report reflects the work that was done from the 17th Annual Truman Legacy Symposium and Fire Forum held in Key West, Florida, in May 2019.

The National Firefighter Registry will be used to track and analyze cancer trends and risk factors among the U.S. fire service to help the public safety community, researchers, scientists and medical professionals find better ways to protect those who protect our communities and environment.

Climb to Show You’ll Never Forget at FDIC
Step up at Lucas Oil Stadium in honor of the 343 members of FDNY who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001. Climb with the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) at the 2020 FDIC 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on Friday, April 24, 2020. Participants will climb the stairs multiple times for a total of 110 stories, representing the number of floors in the Twin Towers.
Stop, Drop, Rock n Roll 2020 to Feature ‘The Voice’ Finalists, The Swon Brothers
Over the past 18 years, Stop, Drop, Rock ‘n’ Roll has played an important part in honoring America’s fallen firefighters. This year’s event will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2020, from 7:00 – 11:00 pm at the Indiana Roof Ballroom.
