Kevin D. Quinn joined the fire service in 1976. He recently retired as a Deputy Chief of the Union Fire District in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, and has returned to where he began in the volunteer fire service – actively responding to fires and alarms with his original Station #3 of the Union Fire District. Chief Quinn is currently in his second term on the National Fire Academy Board of Visitors. He serves as a Board member on the Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition and currently serves as the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) 1st Vice Chairman. The former Chairman of the NVFC, Chief Quinn has served on the NVFC Board of Directors for over 40 years.
Kevin’s day job was that of an educator, serving in 3 high schools over his 30 plus year career. He loved teaching and continues to instruct throughout the Nation and the world. Kevin was fortunate to serve both careers, teaching and the volunteer fire service. It is the fire service that exposed him to so many opportunities and his fire instruction that has created friendships worldwide. Always serving his firefighters with a Safety Always theme, Chief Quinn has gravitated to firefighter health and safety. He delivers presentations at fire and emergency conferences and State Association meetings across the country. His appointment to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation is a certainly a capstone.
Kevin is a past-President of the Rhode Island State Firefighters’ League, Rhode Island State Advocate of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation’s Everyone Goes Home® Program, member of the Foundation’s Rhode Island Local Assistance State Team, member of the Hope Valley HazMat team, and member of numerous federal, state, and local exercise design management teams. Kevin holds a Master of Science in Counseling and Educational Psychology and a Master of Science in Education.
He lives in Rhode Island with his wife LeeAnn. They have 2 sons, Jonathan and Joshua; and are blessed with 4 grandchildren, Susanna, Sterling, Maeve and Bridget.
