Captain Willie R. Mailhot was born in Lewiston, Maine on August 16, 1904. He joined the Lewiston Fire Department on March 1, 1937. He died in the line-of-duty on May 2, 1965 at the age of 60 when he was run over by a fire truck while responding to a fire on Lowell Street.
