Roll of Honor

Assistant Chief
Age: 58
Year of Death: 2024

Stephen M. Pavetti

Stephen M. Pavetti was born in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania, to the late Raymond and Margaret Pavetti on November 13, 1966. Steve graduated with High Honors from Kiski Area High School in 1984 with a concentration in welding from the local vocational technical school. After graduation, Steve utilized his welding certification to begin his career at Allegheny Ludlum Steel, where he worked until he retired in 2019.

He was a devoted volunteer fireman at the Kiski Township Fire Dept No. 1, where he had served since October 2006. During his 18-year tenure with the department, Steve held many positions including treasurer, chief engineer, EMT, and assistant chief 3. He earned Firefighter of the Year in 2009.

One of Steve’s proudest possessions was his 2013 Harley-Davidson Ultra Firefighter Edition Motorcycle. Taking things apart and putting them back together was one of his favorite pastimes. This bike had a fully redone motor over the years, a custom flame paint job, top of the line speakers, and flame throwers.

When not volunteering at the fire hall, Steve would rebuild/customize motorcycles, ride motorcycles, hunt, and watch NASCAR racing and any Pittsburgh sports. Steve found a way to combine his hobbies with his volunteer efforts and was responsible for planning and coordinating the annual Kiski Township Fire Department Bike Run each June. The department plans on continuing Steve’s favorite fundraiser event in upcoming years.

Steve leaves behind his family and the community who misses his smiling face, easygoing personality, and positive attitude to lend a helping hand when needed.
