Philippe Bazinet

Captain Phillippe Bazinet was born in Tabaskaville, Canada. He joined the Lewiston Fire Department in 1900 and had been a Captain on Hose Company #4. He passed away in the line-of-duty at the age of 42 on December 24, 1909, when a wall collapsed at the Callahan Block fire at 274 Lisbon Street. Firefighter Thomas King was also killed in the collapse.

This firefighter line of duty fatality occurred before the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial was built in Emmitsburg, Maryland. While this firefighter has not been officially honored at the Memorial site, there are plans to do so when resources are available.
