Paula I. Bennett‚ 44‚ a firefighter with the Carriere Volunteer Fire Department‚ died in a motor vehicle accident while responding to a structure fire in Carriere on March 16‚ 1998. The only female firefighter to die in the line of duty during 1998‚ she was a rehab team member and vice president of the auxiliary.
