Michael “Mike Mike” Vinson

Michael Douglas Vinson was born on January 2,1997, in Anderson, South Carolina. He is the only child of Phillip and Christy Vinson. He graduated from Laurens District 55 High School in 2014. He was an active member of the FFA. He was successful in tractor driving competitions throughout high school.

As a young child, he grew up around the fire service. He always had a great interest in firefighting. He joined Ekom Fire Department in the explorer program when he turned 15. He began taking classes and joined as a volunteer when he turned 18. He later went on to lead the explorer program through their training.

Michael became a career firefighter with Laurens County Fire Department and worked part-time as a firefighter at Clinton City Fire Department. Michael was a Firefighter 2 and began taking specialized rescue classes such as rope rescue and hazmat.

Michael had a strong desire to help his community and help others in need. Becoming a career firefighter was a dream come true for him.

Mike Mike was a huge Atlanta Braves fan and loved his Clemson Tigers. He was known for always wearing his Braves baseball cap.

Mike Mike was a loving son and devoted friend. He left behind his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and lots of friends who he loved like family. Mike Mike had a huge heart and always loved life. He had a kind smile and cracked a joke for everyone. There will never be another one like him. He was truly one of a kind.

Mike Mike left this world doing what he absolutely loved, and he will always be honored and remembered as our hero
