  3. Gregg,
I carried your picture yesterday as I participated in a memorial stair climb honoring your service. At the end of the climb, your name was read aloud and a bell was rung. I will keep it and carry it next year when I participate again. RIP. You are not forgotten. I will say a prayer for your family.
    Respectfully,
    Mary Ketron, flight nurse

  4. Gregg,
I will never forget you, and I will never forget this day. Someday we will meet again and laugh at our jokes we used to tell each other. Rest easy my friend, and I will see you soon.

  5. Gregg,
I walked with you beside me today thru Lambeau Field, trudging up the stairs, fighting the pain to keep going. I am awed by you and your brethren who ran into the Towers that fateful day. I will never forget this day. I keep your photo and will do my best to honor your memory again next year. You truly are a hero, Gregg. I send love and we’ll wishes to your family. Thank you for your service.

  6. On Saturday September 16, 2017 I had the honor of climbing in the 911 Memorial Stair Climb at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin for Gregg. I have the badge they gave me with his picture on it above my computer screen in my office, along with the other 4 I climbed for in previous years. Doing the stair climb seems like a small task compared to the ultimate sacrifice that you made on that dark day. Rest in Peace Brother.

    – Thomas Clark Jr
  7. I drew your name today and took your memory on a 343 mile motorcycle ride in Florida. You will never be forgotten Brother!!

  8. I wanted to share something about Lt Gregg Atlas and hope this somehow finds his family. My school participated in a 9/11 Stair Climb Challenge to honor the Fallen Heroes of 9/11. One of my middle school students proudly climbed 1,980 steps in honor of Lt Gregg Atlas. Students climbed virtually due to Covid so he was on a Mass Google Meet with many other students climbing. He wrote Lt. Gregg Altas name in the chat and announced his name twice throughout the day during 2 separate classes (virtually). I heard so many names throughout the day (as 807 students climbed for so many heroes) but Lt Gregg Atlas name jumped out at me for some reason. THEN, at the end of the day, my Vice principal returned his honoree badge to me and low and behold, it was Lt Gregg Atlas once again. Out of ALL the badges and ALL the heroes, for some reason Lt Gregg Atlas was reaching out to me and I can’t get him out of my head. I climbed proudly in honor of Joseph R. Rivelli Jr, Ladder 25 this year but will climb next year for Lt Gregg Atlas. I want his family to know that he was truly honored for his sacrifice and appreciated by me, my student, and my VP. I didn’t even know Lt Gregg Atlas but he is forever special to me now – I WILL NEVER FORGET!

  9. Greg, you have inspired so many people not only in my county, but around the world. Here in Escambia County, Florida we remember you and your men who made the ultimate sacrifice on 9/11 to save those stuck in the World Trade Center while they were running out. You and your crew of Engine 10 ran into the building to help save lives. For what you and your crew have done has inspired people in Escambia County to keep on trying whether it’s life or death.

  10. Today I climbed for Greg along with so many others who lost their lives and those are still struggling. I was in NYC on 9/11. One year out of college living with my best friend, Shanna. In the days and weeks after 9/11, Shanna and I baked dozens of cookies for the firefighters. They were the heroes of our city. Shanna passed last year due to cancer from 9/11. Today was meaningful to me on so many levels. Thank you to the Atlas family and God bless.

  12. Tucson Arizona 9/11 Tower challenge 2022- I had the honor of carrying your picture with me to complete the 2071 steps around the convention center stadium- honoring all first responders and military that died that day. I said your name and rang the bell on completion. Gone but not forgotten. Blessings on the loved ones you left behind.

  13. I never knew Gregg but after 9/11 bracelets were being sold with the fire fighters that were missing. Mine was Gregg Atlas F.D.N.Y. I still have that bracelet. If anyone in his family wasn’t it please send me a email. I have often wondered if they ever found him so this morning I decided to google his name and found out he wasn’t ever found. My heart breaks for his family. God bless you all.

  24. Dear Lt. Gregg and Family,

Yesterday September 11, 2024 I had the honor of doing the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb with my Air Force ROTC and Army ROTC in McLane Stadium at Baylor University. I had the honor of climbing those stairs with your name pinned on me reminding me that you did not give up on that day when you were helping people out of the tower. I will forever keep the tag I have of your name with me and each year I do those Stair Climb to honor the dark day you sacrificed yourself for others I will be reminded of you.
    Thank you for your service.
