Darrel K. Noah

Crew Member Darrel K. Noah, age 31, of the New Tribes Mission died on July 9, 1953 while fighting the Rattlesnake Fire in the Powder House Canyon at Mendocino National Forest.

Darrel served as a Private First Class in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served with the 60th Field Hospital.

This firefighter line of duty fatality occurred before the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial was built in Emmitsburg, Maryland. While this firefighter has not been officially honored at the Memorial site, there are plans to do so when resources are available.
