Alvin Dean Vaughn’s unwavering faith and love for his family, friends, and community brought light to countless lives. As the pastor of Beacon Avenue Church of God, he embodied a servant’s heart—always ready to lend a hand, share a kind word, and make a friend. His warm smile and ability to bring joy and laughter wherever he went left lasting impressions on everyone he met. Alvin had a deep passion for fishing, basketball, traveling, and, most of all, spending quality time with those he loved.
In addition to his ministry, Alvin dedicated 36 years of his life as a firefighter for the Port of Seattle, serving with honor and commitment. Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2016, he bravely fought the disease for seven and a half years, showing remarkable faith, strength, grace, and determination. Even in his final days, Alvin’s unwavering faith, courage, and selflessness shone brightly as he continued to uplift and inspire others with words of hope and encouragement. His passing on Christmas Day leaves a deep void in the hearts of all who loved him.
Above all, Alvin was a devoted family man. He and his wife, Thomazine, shared 22 years of marriage built on love, faith, and partnership. He deeply loved his three children, Sean, Keonna, and Isaac, and found great joy in being present in their lives. He cherished his relationships with his brothers, sisters, and extended family, always making time for family gatherings, whether large celebrations or simple moments spent together. For Alvin, family was everything, and he was happiest when surrounded by those he loved.
Alvin’s legacy of faith, kindness, and compassion will live on in the many lives he touched. His family and friends will forever cherish the memories of his love, laughter, and unwavering support. Though his physical presence is gone, his spirit remains a guiding light to all who were blessed to know him.
