The 2024 Fire Hero Family Conference is an opportunity to learn more about grief and to develop skills to help you adjust to life after the death of a loved one. It is open to spouses, life partners, parents, adult children, and siblings of fallen firefighters honored or approved to be honored at the National Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland. The conference is open to those age 18 or older.

We encourage you to register soon so you can choose the sessions you most want to attend and book your lodging and travel.

Keynote Address: Finding & Cultivating Your Resilience

Dr. Lise Deguire

Psychological resilience is vital for a rewarding life, but little understood. Yet, most of us are capable of a strong recovery from loss and trauma. Dr. Deguire, a psychologist, author, and childhood burn survivor, will share her own experiences of multiple traumas to show that resilient recovery is possible even under extreme circumstances. She will lead the audience in an exploration of the mental skills involved in the resilient mindset, tools that can improve coping with life’s challenges.
