Director of Development
As a child, Rebecca Nusbaum was a “firehouse brat,” spending countless hours at the Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company with her dad who was a member. From a young age, she felt that the fire service was an extension of her family and recognized its core values. Whatever the project or need, the fire service takes care of their own through hard work and dedication. From this experience, Rebecca learned about extended family and what it means to give selflessly of your time in service to your community.
Rebecca joined the Foundation staff in 2000 as a part-time administrative assistant. Following the tragic events of September 11, 2001, she became a full-time employee and currently serves as the Foundation’s Director of Development. Rebecca has her Bachelor of Science in Management and a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management from Johnson & Wales University. She lives in Edgewater, Maryland with her fiancé, a retired Fire Captain from Rhode Island, and their weimaraner, Violet. Rebecca enjoys kayaking, hiking, concerts and festivals, cooking, reading, and traveling.
