Lincoln Quappe‚ 38‚ firefighter‚ FDNY‚ Rescue 2. The 16-year FDNY veteran was an aggressive firefighter who always strove to improve his lifesaving skills‚ even going so far as to weld new additions onto the firehouse training tower so he could practice specialized techniques. At home in Sayville‚ Long Island‚ he was a member of the Sayville Volunteer Fire Department‚ and served as a Cub Scout leader and baseball coach. Quappe was a longtime member of the Brookhaven Volunteer Fire Department.

I worked for Round Rock Fire in Texas as a training admin and during my 1st year with the fire department we held a 9/11 stair climb at the training center. Along with going up and down the tower to honor you all we also printed ya’lls pictures and hung them from the tower all while reading everyone’s names. As I was walking up, your picture fell in front of me and I picked you up and kept you at my desk. It has now been 5 years and I still have your picture at my desk at my current job with the State. I have considered you my guardian angel since then. Thank you for all you did! You are not forgotten!
