Ronnie L. Henderson‚ 52‚ firefighter‚ FDNY‚ Engine 279. A courageous firefighter and dedicated father of four‚ Henderson moved to Brooklyn as a teenager. A Marine veteran‚ he attended Alexander Hamilton High School and John Jay College before becoming a longshoreman and then joining the FDNY. He was active in his Newburgh‚ N.Y.‚ community and a member of the Church of God by Faith.

I ran the Hero Rush firefighters obstacle course in upstate NY and wore Mr. Henderson’s name as I completed the race. Such an honor to be running in the memory of someone who gave so much for us! I am sorry for your loss and wish you only the best in the future.

– BarbDuring our first day in Fire Academy (on 9/11) we picked names out of a bucket who were the Firefighters who risked their lives on that day, and in honor of them went up 110 flights of stairs. I ended up with Firefighter Henderson, and completed every flight of stairs with ” Do it for Ronnie.” Thank you for your sacrifice, your memory will live on.

I carried his picture for the equivalent of 110 stories. There was a bell too – I rang it each time I passed it & said his name each time I rang the bell. Never Forgotten!!
