Michael J. Cawley‚ 32‚ firefighter‚ FDNY‚ Ladder 136. He was having breakfast at Rescue 4 when the call came in to go to the World Trade Center. A graduate of State University College in Oswego‚ Cawley always wanted to be a firefighter. After years of working second jobs‚ he had finally bought his dream house.

  4. Today I received the the greatest honor of making the 9/11 stair climb and ringing the bell in your name brother. You are and forever will be a true hero and never forgotten. I turned my ankle the day before but still proceeded and done the climb i wouldnt let anybody tell me no. I will always remember the 2017 climb and no that i done it to honor you my brother my love and heart is out to you and your family you are a true inspiration brother again it has been and forever will be my honor for honoring you on this day.

  5. On Saturday I participated in the run for the fallen in Kronenwetter WI. I had the honor of running in remembrance of Michael. I cannot imagine the pain of losing him at such a young age but he is a hero and I know I will never forget him or the others who gave their lives in efforts to save others on that horrific day. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with his family on this day, the 16th anniversary of 9/11.

  6. My daughter’s school participated in the 343 walk to remember for those who lost their lives on 9/11. My daughter was chosen to walk for you, Michael Cawley, LAD 136. Thank you for your service and we will never forget and we will always honor you and your fellow fire fighters on this patriots day!

    Our group, ‘Crisis Preparation and Recovery’ was the largest group at the challenge, honoring those who lost their lives on 9/11

  13. On September 10, 2022 I climbed in memory of Mike in the CNY Stairclimb in Utica, NY. It was an honor and privilege to bring light to his name and the sacrifice he made for his fellow man. He will always be an inspiration to me as a fireman, and man. He is a hero and will never be forgotten.

  16. My Lieutenant at my volunteer house is a part of F.F. Cawley’s family. He couldn’t climb today on the 22nd anniversary so I had the honor to carry Michael’s name up. Never Forget.

  19. I ran the stair climb in honor of Michael J. Cawley in Crown Point, Indiana. I ran up and down the grand stands and finished just over 39 minutes. Next year I plan on putting on the firefighter gear and do it again. It was a privilege to honor this firefighter. True definition of a hero. Never forgotten!! God Bless America.

  20. We were honored to climb in memory of Michael today (9/7/24) in Enterprise, Alabama. It was our city’s first memorial stair climb. God gives us hills to climb and the strength to climb them. You are not forgotten.

  22. It’s been 23 years and I still think of you often Michael. We went to HS together. We weren’t close friends, but I knew you to be a good guy who could be counted on to be fair and stand up for the underdog. It seems that was a constant throughout your life. When I remember you, I remember to be grateful for every day and everyone I love. Thank you Michael. You’re a true hero.

  23. Bellevue community schools did a 911 memorial day walk for those who have fallen on this day in 2001 my son did 23 laps in his honor and he is hanging his pic in his room to always remember him.. my family prays for all the families who have loss loved ones on 09/11/2001
