The Foundation has a number of resources to help fire departments prepare standard operating procedures for handling a line-of-duty death.
Planning is critical to successfully handling a line-of-duty death. Having procedures in place will make it much easier for everyone – the family, the department, and the community. We encourage you to download and use resources from the Taking Care of Our Own® class to help develop or enhance your department’s plan and procedures. You may also download or order a copy of the Resource Guide that contains materials developed for the class.
