Shaun “Luke” Daniel was born in Dublin, Georgia, on July 29, 1996. He grew up in Cochran, Georgia, and graduated from Bleckley County High School in 2015. Luke loved participating in the school band. He was the drummer for a band called The Brad Sanders Approach. He loved playing Dungeons & Dragons with his friends. Luke attended Oconee Fall Line Technical College and graduated in 2016 with an Emergency Medical Technician certificate. He always had a passion for helping people and serving his community.
In 2016, Luke met his future wife, Megan. They started working together and traveling the country with a merchandising company doing large scale remodels/store openings. Traveling was something Luke and Megan both loved. They spent time in so many amazing cities. They kept the Passport to National Parks book filled with stickers and stamps from all the places they visited together. Luke married the love of his life on October 15, 2020, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
Luke’s dream was to be a first responder. He applied for a job with the Georgia Forestry Commission several times. He even flew home from a job in Texas just to do an interview and fly back. It took him about four years to finally get hired in April 2023. He was so happy living his dream. Luke would come home every night talking about how much he loved being a wildland firefighter and how excited he was for the future. He wanted to volunteer to fight wildfires out west and save as many lives as he could. Luke passed away on June 5, 2023 while on a call. His dream was to retire as a firefighter, and his career sadly ended too soon.
Luke was a ginger with a huge personality. Most people thought he looked intimidating, but he was really a big teddy bear. His laugh filled up the entire room. Family was always #1. His hobbies included going to the gym, kayaking, racquetball, video games, music, and traveling. Luke was a huge Georgia Bulldogs fan (GO DAWGS!). His favorite player was Nick Chubb, which led him to be a Cleveland Browns fan as well.
I am the luckiest girl in the world to have married such an amazing man! He was one in a million. I will forever be grateful for him. Luke taught me so much about life. He was truly my best friend. I am extremely proud of everything he accomplished. Ever since we met, Luke would say “Always with Me” at the end of phone calls, text messages, or written in cards on special occasions. Now he is my guardian angel and will be “Always with Me” forever.
