Aliza will graduate with her bachelor’s degree in social work from Millersville University in May 2024 and she will begin her pursuit of her master’s degree at West Chester University in the fall. Her career goal is to use her social work education to assist as many people as possible, with a focus on children and adolescents.
She served as a Big Buddy mentor at Comfort Zone Camp the previous two years where she worked one on one with a little girl and guided her through her camp weekend. Aliza currently volunteers at her local domestic violence shelter with the children’s group, where one hour each evening she provides curriculum about safety, boundaries, and more. When not coordinating the group, she finds joy in supporting the children.
Captain Todd Gibney shares, “Aliza’s choice to pursue social work was influenced by a combination of her upbringing and kind-hearted nature, just like her father, along with her personal experience surrounding the death of her father. While the void of losing her father will never be filled, Aliza intends to use her experiences to help others, just like her father did.”
