National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Re-Launches the FireHero.org Website
Emmitsburg, MD - The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) is excited to announce the re-launch of its parent website at www.FireHero.org. The new design of FireHero.org brings enhanced usability for families, departments of fallen firefighters, and the fire service, with easier access to our resources. "The new and improved FireHero.org will allow us to develop and deliver more resources and information about the programs of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation," stated Chief Dennis Compton, Chairman of the Foundation's Board of Directors. Enhancements include more information about the Foundation, Memorial Park, and related news and special events. In addition, the new Roll of Honor section provides easier searches of the tributes to our fallen firefighters from 1981 to the present. A related section, "Project Roll Call," is a reporting tool to share information on firefighter line-of-duty deaths that occurred prior to 1981 when the National Memorial was established. These cases will then be evaluated using our inclusion criteria, and honorees' names will be placed in a special section of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Park. The Walk of Honor® website section now allows families and donors to easily search over 8,500 bricks located at the Memorial Park in Emmitsburg and includes the latest information on brick placement. An expanded Family Resource section includes information for both new and returning Survivors. This section has been reorganized to place much needed resources at our families' fingertips, including information on: Fire Service Survivors Network, Scholarship Program, grief resources, benefit information, ways for new survivors to cope with loss of a loved one, and opportunities for all Survivors to stay connected and support each other. Fire Service programs, training, and resources available through the FireHero.org site include: the Taking Care of Our Own® program, Local Assistance State Teams, Chief-to-Chief Network, and other line-of-duty death resources. EveryoneGoesHome.com, the Foundation's line-of-duty death and injury prevention website, is included in the department resource section which offers training and resources to prevent a tragedy from occurring. The Foundation's mission to support the families and departments of our fallen firefighters would not be possible without the generous donations of our corporate sponsors and donors who are recognized on our web site.
